Female border guards at Kiev's Borispol Airport received professional makeovers this week to help Ukraine put its best face forward at the upcoming Euro 2012.
"Every traveler who comes to the Borispol Airport will see a beautiful Ukrainian border guard, and they will remember only the best about Ukraine," Maryana Markovich, the airport's border guard press officer, said in a statement.
The female guards were pampered by professional makeup artists and hairstylists who worked hard to make the women look and feel good. According to stylist Andrei Yudin, the makeovers aren’t about fixing up ugly women, but about helping the ladies look their absolute best.
“Even without any make-up they look astonishing,” he said. “I just do it for the sake of touching a beautiful face one more time.”
Male guards did not receive makeovers.
Co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine, Euro 2012 will kick off June 8, 2012 and end on July 1. Lviv, Kharkiv, and Donetsk will host tournament games while Kiev will host the final.
