Survey: International Marriages Work!

3. February 2010 by Administrator 0 Comments

Good news for Russian online dating! A recent survey of more than 2,000 cross-cultural couples reveals positive outcomes for those who use global dating wisely, including a lower divorce rate.

The survey reveals:

  • The divorce rate for cross-cultural marriages is about 40 percent, while the US average for domestic marriages is 48 percent. This suggests people who invest the time and effort to search for a compatible mate have a better chance of staying together despite coming from different countries.
  • Language differences ranked at the bottom of difficulties these couples encountered. Overall communication and family issues ranked at the top of difficulties – similar to marriages everywhere.
  • The average age difference between cross cultural couples is about 9 years:  The average age of men marrying foreign ladies is 40; their brides, 32.
  • Among those who do divorce, 89 percent say they would try cross-cultural marriage again. That suggests the way they meet – international dating sites – works.

Perhaps the most telling statistic is that whirlwind courtships don’t work. Foreign marriages with less than four months of courtship behind them failed more often than marriages with longer courtships. The numbers back up our view that real love can’t be rushed.

RussianLoveMatch.com urges its members to take several weeks or months corresponding a particular lady, even if both of you feel you’ve met your perfect match. Take your time to find out if your goals, tastes and outlooks are compatible.
