Want a great date? Take your Ukrainian lady to see your favorite band. When you read about things to do in Kiev, you’ll usually see mentions of going to the opera or the symphony; this is not surprising, since Kiev is a major Eastern European cultural center. But, people writing the guidebooks often forget to mention how much Ukrainians love dance music and rock and roll. Bands from all over the world include a stop in Kiev, Ukraine on their world tours. If you are planning to make a trip to Kiev in the coming months, you may be able to catch your favorite act while you are there. A few who have shows coming up soon:

Deep Purple is ready to reclaim their title as the hardest touring band in the world. They spent the summer writing and recording, and now they are back on the road. Kiev, Ukraine is on their list of destinations for their fall tour, with a show at the Palace of Sports to support their new album.

Longtime Ukrainian favorite Scorpions will visit Kiev as part of their European tour. Is your favorite Ukrainian lady a classic rock fan? She’d probably love to accompany you to the show.

American alt rock band Garbage will hit Kiev on their worldwide tour to support Not Your Kind of People, their first new album since 2005. Eric Avery, the original bass player from Jane’s Addiction, has joined the band for the tour. If you aren’t able to catch them in Kiev, you also have a chance to see them in Russia, Belarus and Latvia, as well.

Like your music louder and harder? Then catch a show from post-hardcore metal band Enter Shikari. They will kick of their world tour on October 12 with a show in Kiev. The show is followed by dates in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
