Do you hate sitting through ads when you go to the movies? People in FSU country Moldova’s Parliament do, too. Pre and post movie ads will soon be banned in Moldova if a bill that is up for consideration becomes law. The bill was passed during its first reading and approved by the government. A final reading is required before the bill becomes law. Movie theater proprietors who violate the ban will be fined the equivalent of $80 and up to $480 for repeat offenders.
The bill’s sponsors say that the new law was proposed at the request of the country’s youth. Critics argue that this will force movie theaters to increase ticket prices. So, if the bill passes, you’ll likely pay a bit more when you take your Moldovan lady on a dinner and a movie date, but, you’ll be spared the irritation of excessive ads before the film.
