Though Russia used to honor teachers on the first Sunday in October, they rescheduled the holiday to coincide with World Teachers’ Appreciation Day. According to the Voice of Russia, there are over 1 million teachers in the nation, and President Dmitry Medvedev himself will honor the winner of the Teacher of the Year national award at a ceremony in Moscow.
